Gear Up and Play is outdoor adventure travel or activity based traveling in a Eco-conscious world.  This means we are big proponents of the “Leave no Trace” program.  We encourage our readers to reduce their impact upon the environment as you camp, hike, bike, climb, fish, paddle, snowboard and simply trek your way across the globe.

That said, whenever possible, we ask you offer a green spin on content when appropriate and possible.  Of Course, don’t force it, not everything will be about being green.  Sometimes it’s just about that awesome adventure you had swinging through the tree tops of a Central American rain-forest giving you a unique perspective of Costa Rica!

Currently we are seeking content in these five broad categories.  If you are interested in writing something that does not seem to fall into any of these categories but you think is relevant to the overall theme of the blog feel free to offer a suggestion.

1. Adventure Travel – Write about your travel adventures, what you did, experiences, etc.  Don’t get hung up on the term adventure travel.  Adventure travel can be defined a lot of different ways.  To some the adventure might be an adrenaline filled trip down class V rapids but to others simply leaving the country can be considered adventurous.  For a complete discussion on Adventure Travel review this post:  What is Adventure Travel?
2. Food and Culture - Who says food can’t be adventurous.  Sometimes the biggest adventure is seeing if your pallet is up to the challenge.  Consider a exploration of culture, food, drink and traditions in the eyes of the curious traveler.
3. Outdoor Recreation - Kayaking, Cycling, Backpacking, Camping, Snowboarding, Climbing, Fishing and all the Outdoor related activities you included in your travel experiences.
4. Gear Spotlight -  Love that one piece of gear/equipment that you think it deserves mention.  Here’s the chance.  Point other travelers/adventures into the right pair of hiking boots or whatever the case may be.  Also great for mentioning new and innovative gear.
5. Eco Adventures (the eco path) – Leave no Trace Program, Go Green, Travel Green, Green Accommodations, Green your Outdoor Sport, Green Living, Eco-Friendly, Sustainable Living and Outdoor Eco Fashion.
